PLASTIC ARTIST WITH A CONTEMPORARY CONTRIBUTION TO WATERCOLOR
“My project aims to claim the beauty lies within imperfection and the splendour of years gone by, in contrast to the West’s fascination for symmetry, and all things shiny and new.”
ANDAMIOS
Andamios (Scaffolds) is a series of watercolor paintings full of radiant energy, explosions of color, hazy landscapes, and a window to dreamy cities and imaginary times.
STATEMENT
Contemporary contribution to Watercolor
Watercolor painting, despite being the most lively of pictorial techniques, is also the one that has been strongly limited by its purist defenders. My work takes an interest in the deep exploration of this technique’s limits, taking it one step further by experimenting with other media, papers or pigments, and by providing texture and dynamism. It is an informal, gesture-filled and energetic language that moves through the exaltation of color, a marked illumination and the flirting between abstraction and figuration. I have as references to Aitor Rentería or Joan Coch, my work is permeated from the sources of Antoni Tápies and brings brushstrokes of Matteric Informalism to the world of watercolor.
